Bees Swept by Half Trax
Springfield, OH – The Bees never led in Saturday's doubleheader against Champion City as the
Half Trax won by scores of 7-4 and 7-0.
In game 1, Champion City scored all seven of their runs in the first two innings. They plated
three in the first inning after five consecutive walks with two outs. In the second frame, the Half
Trax scored four times on three hits, including a three RBI double by Jaxon Brown 7-0.
Burlington would battle back, as they would hold Champion City scoreless for the remainder of
the game. In the top of the 3rd, Juan Fernandez (SCC) scored after Tanner Reinartz (Huntington)
singled him over to third, before scoring on an error. Reinartz would come around to score on a
sacrifice fly from Lucas Krebs (Illinois) to make the score 7-2.
The Bees would cut into the lead in the late innings as Reinartz homered over the left field
fence in the 5th before Adam Kudronowicz (Iowa Western) doubled home Troy Peltz (Iowa
Western) in the 7th to cut the lead to three. Champion City would hold on to win game 1.
In game 2, Half Trax starting pitcher Logan Cobb tossed five scoreless innings, allowing no runs
or hits while striking out six batters. Two Champion City relivers combined to shut out the Bees
in the 6th and 7th frames, allowing just one hit on a Kila Teixeira (Hawaii Pacific) single.
The Half Trax scored runs in four different innings in the victory. They improve to 2-3 and are
back in action on Tuesday at Danville.
Burlington falls to 2-3 and will conclude a five game road trip tomorrow at Normal. First pitch is
set for 3 pm at the Corn Crib.
